Summary of Functions:

  • Acts as a community liaison with physicians, physicians office staff and Agency operational staff to monitor and obtain signed physician orders and any clinical documents required to ensure timely reimbursement processing.
  • Assists in the resolution of problems between referral sources and service departments.Identify persistent issues by collecting data and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Spends 30-40% of time in the field following up with physicians to obtain signed physician orders.
  • Maintains and builds community relationships through mutual trust and meaningful cooperation.
  • Puts a top priority on getting results with regard to monitoring reports periodically to determine which medical orders (and/or Face-to-Face documents) are outstanding.Follows up on status of outstanding medical orders/documents according to established procedures.
  • Maintains a consistent, high level of productivity processing and obtaining signed orders.
  • Works closely with Business Operations staff and Clinical Department to resolve delinquent/outstanding physician orders/documents.
  • Gathers missing information from patients, insurance companies, and nurses to complete the patient billing process.
  • Provides Director of Business Operations with feedback regarding outstanding physician orders and/or Face-to-Face documents.
  • Understanding of Agency processes to permit acquiring of necessary information to complete assignments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to see, hear, speak and write English to effectively communicate with public and staff.
  • Ability to carry educational materials (lifting up to 30 lbs.), drive to and access different locations to deliver materials.
  • Maintains a proficiency in the use of computers and applicable software.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Professional demeanor, appearance and appropriately groomed.
  • Punctuality and attendance meeting or exceeding organizational norms.
  • Ability to be a team player, sharing in the delivery of other team memberís responsibilities to produce departmental improving results.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree in related field and/or equivalent education and experience
  • Two-three years related experience working to establish solid relationships with professional contacts

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experienced in the effective use of Word processing on a PC, familiarity with PC and mainframe databases.Knowledge of McKesson Horizonís preferred
  • Word processing skills of 40 wpm or higher
  • Initiative to alert management of issues/unresolved tasks related to the success of the department
  • Punctuality and attendance meeting or exceeding organizational norms
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to read, hear, speak and write English to effectively communicate with patients, health care professionals and staff.Possess professional telephone etiquette
  • Concentration ability needed to perform job duties accurately and to meet applicable deadlines
  • Analytical abilities sufficient to assess and analyze needs for service and appropriate resources, and to resolve problems requiring the integration and interpretation of varied information from diverse sources
  • Knowledge of agency services, policies and procedures, and reimbursement criteria.Working knowledge or ability to understand a variety of reimbursement mechanisms
  • Ability to sit before and operate a computer for extended periods of time
  • Punctuality and attendance meeting or exceeding organizational norm
  • Proficiency in computer software applications including Microsoft Office, McKesson Horizons, and/or other healthcare related applications
  • Must write, speak and comprehend English to effectively communicate with staff and others
  • Concentration ability needed to perform job duties accurately and to meet applicable deadlines
